Obituary of Loveral Faye Konuszewski

Konuszewski, Loveral Faye (Nagel) Bridgeport, Michigan Loveral Konuszewski, age 92, was born on November 13, 1928 in Flint, Michigan to the late Louise (Douglas) Nagel and Alex Nagel. At the age of 18, Loveral became a proud big sister to her beloved baby brother, Doug. She married the love of her life, Zygmond Edward Konuszewski on May 28, 1949. Loveral and Ziggy raised five boisterous boys they loved more than life itself. Loveral always claimed that her sons were the cutest and sweetest boys to ever grace this earth. Though she never learned to swim, Loveral and Zig had a beautiful swimming pool in their backyard for many years. She loved to float around the pool in a lounge-style floating chair on hot summer days, getting her tan on while surrounded by her happy, splashing children and later, their families. She kept her freezer heavily stocked with popsicles, push-ups, and ice cream treats. For many years, she was hooked on the television show “All My Children,” which she watched faithfully until the last episode of the series. Later in life, she was an avid viewer of “Forensic Files,” watching nightly before bed. Because of that show, she often bragged that she felt she knew how to commit the perfect crime. Loveral was partial to many quirky sayings, family favorites being, “There’s only so many clicks in a clicker,” “I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck,” and “For every Jack, there’s a Jill.” Her phone rang throughout the day with phone calls from her family and friends; she liked to be checked up on and she liked checking in with her loved ones. If you stopped over at any time of day, she would happily whip you up some poached eggs or French toast, and she also made a killer homemade hot fudge sauce. Though she prided herself on being a stellar cook, she loved going out to eat. She also loved shopping at Macy’s (and before that, Marshall Fields, and before that, Hudson’s). She loved reading books she checked out from the Bridgeport Public Library, and she delighted in playing cards—especially 31 and euchre—with her family. Throughout her entire adult life, nearly seventy years, Loveral lived in the modest home her father built for her and Zig. She truly loved her home and was happiest in it. When the weather was nice, she loved sitting on her porch with family or friends, chatting and watching the birds at the feeders, birdhouses, and birdbaths in her front yard. She especially loved hummingbirds, and she routinely gathered scraps after dinner to leave out for the resident crow. A proud baseball mama and grandmother, she attended roughly one million baseball games in her life. It was always easy to make Loveral laugh, and she had such a great, contagious laugh. She called each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren “sweet boy” or “sweet girl.” Nothing was more important to her than her family, and she ingrained that trait in each of her devoted, loving sons. She will be deeply missed, but her family feels very grateful to have had her in their lives for so long. Loveral passed away March 25, 2021 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Zig. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Ted (Pat) Kanuszewski; brother, Doug (Ginny) Nagel; sons, Zig (Marikaye) Konuszewski, Don (“Don’s Barb”) Konuszewski, Jim Konuszewski, Gary (“Gary’s Barb”) Konuszewski, and Dennis (Marcia) Konuszewski; grandchildren, Angela (Dave) Trabalka, Don (Kim) Konuszewski II, Scott (Jessica) Konuszewski, Garrett (Ava) Konuszewski, Spencer (Tori) Konuszewski, Mackenzie (Conner) Robertson, Hunter (Hannah) Konuszewski, Allyson Konuszewski, and Quin Konuszewski; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and her husband, Kathy and DJ Simpson, who were very attentive to Loveral throughout her life; and a handful of dear—and in many cases lifelong—friends. Due to the ongoing pandemic, a memorial will be held to celebrate Loveral’s life at a later date.
