Obituary of Bonnie Jean Wilson-Matta

Wilson-Matta, Bonnie Essexville, MI (formerly of Saginaw & Midland, MI) Mrs. Wilson-Matta passed away on Sunday March 21, 2021, at the age of 89. She was born on November 3, 1931 to the late Ann (Reinke) and Ambrog Vervoort in Saginaw, Michigan Bonnie graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Saginaw, Michigan. She worked over the years for Michigan Bell, in the office of JC Penney Company and as a Dental Office receptionist. She married Eugene Wilson, lived in Midland, Michigan and had seven children. The family enjoyed camping, swimming, snowmobiling and many pets. Some years after their divorce, she met and married Joe Matta of Saginaw. They enjoyed RV camping and sailing on Lake Huron. Following Joe's death, Bonnie moved to Chris Kay mobile home park in Saginaw where she took up water color painting, bicycling and water exercise. There she made many good friends with whom she visited and played bingo and poker. She and several friends were also members of a Red Hats group. In recent years, because of multiple health issues, Bonnie moved to Midland's Riverside Place Apartments. After leaving Riverside Place for Brian's House Hospice in Essexville, Michigan. She continued to have fond memories of the friends she made in Saginaw and at Riverside Place. The staff at Brian's House and Heartland Health Hospice staff were exceptional in their kindness and care for her in her last nine months. Above all she was a Mom and even in poor health was always keenly interested in the activities and well-being of her large family. She is survived by her children, Andrew Wilson (Debra) of Bay City, MI, Sally Waller (Donald) of San Diego, CA, Russell Wilson (Terri) of San Marcos, CA, Linda Clark (David) of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeanette Hall of Sanford, MI; by 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister, Carol Wadsworth (Dr. Kenneth) of Utah, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by husband Joseph Matta, sons Robert W. Wilson and David A. Wilson and brother Robert Vervoort.
