Obituary of Polly Anne Eckerly
Polly Eckerly, age 59, of Roscommon died unexpectedly February 27, 2021 at Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw. She was born December 29, 1961 in Livonia to Jack Frank and Mary Anne (DeWitt) Eckerly who preceded her in death.
Polly had been a Roscommon resident most of her life. Following her high school graduation in 1980 she began her studies in Social Work at Ferris State University and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree. She went to work in the Roscommon County court system as a probation officer. After her son Tony was born, she raised him alone and returned to college and obtained her Masters in Social Work Degree from Grand Valley State University in April of 2007.
Polly worked for Mercy Home Health Care for 17 years. She also worked as the social services director at Hilltop Manor Health Care Center where she was a calm and comforting voice in the evacuation of the residents during the Meridian Boundary Fire in 2010. For the last 7 years she was the client services manager at St. Vincent DePaul in Prudenville.
She enjoyed crafting and loved to cook. Polly relished in her friendships and her laugh was contagious. You always knew how she felt because she had no filter. She especially enjoyed being with Tony and his family.
Surviving are her son, Tony (Tina) McGillis; grandchildren, Brody and Silas McGillis and Justice Aeck; and brothers, Mike and Pat Eckerly.
Family and friends will gather for a life celebration from 2-6 pm on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at S & J Excavating Shop, 11355 Steckert Bridge Road, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.
