Charles, age 86, passed away January 31, 2021. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. He was born in Bannister, Michigan, June 29, 1934 to the late Charles I. and Thelma (Evans) LaBeau.
Charles married Janice Ogram in September 1997, and she predeceased him on June 10, 2016. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. Shortly after retiring from Shear Tool, he moved to California until 2019 when he returned to Michigan to be closer to family. He was a long-time active member of the Ames United Methodist Church. He enjoyed carving and traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe.
He was the proud father of Marilyn (Gerald) Sapak, Charles R. (DeAnna) LaBeau; loving grandpa of Amanda (Steve) Winnick and Heather LaBeau; and great-grandson Sean Winnick. Also surviving are his siblings, Virginia Waters and David (Nancy) LaBeau; step-children, James (OkHwa) Ogram, Janeen Schaeding, Jill Charlton, Jayne (John) Nestell, Joni (David) Theisen, and John Ograml; 21 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his siblings, Richard LaBeau, Jeanette Lyons, Doris Owen, and Wayne LaBeau; and grandchildren, Jason Nestell and Hillary Ogram.
