Darlene, age 65, passed away on October 7, 2020 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on July 29, 1955 to James, and the late, Marion Miller.
She enjoyed singing and playing keyboards in both secular and praise bands. She was an excellent seamstress, and gave selflessly of her time and talent to alter and repair clothing and wedding dresses for anyone who asked.
She is survived by her husband Jon; children, Carol Webb, of Midland, Joshua (Shannon) Spyker, of Freeland; along with four grandchildren, Brianna and Evan Webb, Kassandra Spyker and Austin Chaltraw; her father, James; brother, Gary (Cindy) Miller; sister, Nancy; along with hundreds of kids that have called her grandma and friend over the years. She was the "detention lady" at Bullock Creek High School where she touched countless lives, as well as being touched by "her kids". She performed with Jon in their band "Quarterdeck" for 13 years, and offered praise in the Freeland United Methodist praise band for 11 years. She was singing in the Holy Cross Lutheran praise band until the time of her illness.
Honoring Darlene's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration and service will take place at the Ingersoll Township Hall, 3026 S. Sasse Rd., Freeland, MI, Saturday, October 17, 2020 beginning at 10:00 am, with a service to begin at 1:00 pm, Pastor James Krueger officiating, followed by more celebration. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
