Obituary of Robert A. Grabmeyer
Robert Grabmeyer, 76, formerly of Saginaw, passed away September 27, 2020 at StoryPoint, Midland from complications related to Parkinson's Disease.
He was born February 2, 1943 in Saginaw, to Leo A. Grabmeyer and Dorothy (Best) Grabmeyer. He was pre-deceased by his siblings: Noreen DeShone, Susanne Fitzpatrick, Lee Grabmeyer, Thomas Grabmeyer and his niece, Sharon Kunkel. He is survived by his sister-in-law Mary and many nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind his very good friends Gloria Byrne, Dick Schomaker and Benny Burk who continued to visit with him after his move from Saginaw.
Bob graduated from Eastern Michigan University and taught at Central Junior before going to work for Tuscarora Plastics in Chesaning. He loved watching the Tigers, the Red Wings and the Saginaw Spirit. He made sure he was driving a brand new, fully loaded Buick from Garber's every few years. As a young man, he delivered the Saginaw News for years and years. History was always a big part of his life and he could always recall the smallest details of any historical event.
Our grateful thanks to those who cared for Bob. The staff at Riverside who were so kind to him, the compassionate caretakers from Heartland Hospice, the caring staff at StoryPoint who kept a close eye on him, and especially Patricia Graunstadt who helped him manage his daily life when he was still in his home.
Bob will be remembered for his unfailing sense of humor, his love of family and friends and his easygoing manner. May he rest in pain free peace.
Due to COVID, no service will be held at this time.
