Obituary of Velma Ilene Thorne

Thorne, Velma Ilene West Branch, MI Velma, 86, passed away September 25, 2020. She was born in West Branch, MI on August 25, 1934 to the late Elizabeth A. Souflett, and Eldon A. Pray. She was a member of Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church and was active with her Sunday School group. She enjoyed reading her bible, baking cookies, gardening, watching wildlife, and her grandchildren. She is survived by children, Terri L. White, Dale R. (Lori) Thorne, Alfred N. (Karen) Thorne, Michelle L. (Steven) Bassi; grandchildren, Ethan Thorne and Desiree' (Nasio) Williams; great-grandchildren, Maliha and Nile Williams; sister, Doris Smith; and fur babies "Missy" and Sassy. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eldon F.; grandson, Billy Slaterline-Bassi; and brothers, Bill, Pat and Lee Pray. A private cemetery memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those considering an expression of sympathy may make a donation to Ogemaw County Animal shelter in honor of Velma.
