Obituary of Kelly M. Johnson

Johnson (Russell), Kelly Freeland, Michigan Kelly Marie Johnson (Russell), age 59, passed away in Freeland, Michigan with her family by her side on June 27, 2020. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 11, 1960 to the late Timothy J. Russell and Diane G. Drohomer (Arsenuk). Kelly is survived by her three children, Shawn (Genevie) Allen, Ashleigh (Donta) Lee, and Carl (Carolina) Allen. She was the proud grandmother of Blake, Chayla, Amontae, Amaria, Sentrai, Azariah, Christian, and Kensington; a great-grandmother to Zakai; a dear sister to Timothy Russell and Kandis (John) Ziegman. Many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends will also carry on her loving legacy. She was preceded in death by her brother, Todd Russell. Our beloved mother and grandmother was truly a woman on the move. She was an active member of her church and a longtime employee of Riverside Family Restaurant. Most of her spare time was spent making cherished memories with her children and grandchildren located across the country. Beyond that, she ran her own businesses and constantly sought out opportunities to carry out acts of service for family, friends, and members of the community. Even in her final week of life, she found ways to give back and carry out the apostle Paul's command to "serve one another humbly in love (Gal 5:13)." The family rests assured that Kelly is now dancing for joy in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Her Memorial Service was held June 29, 2020 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freeland.
