My friends and I have been sharing memories of Natalie over this past week. The one theme that seems to be the strongest is the true impact that Natalie left in our lives. Outside of the laughter and talks and specific memories of times spent together. Whether you spent an hour with her or had years of friendship, she changed your life. She made you think and she made you want to hear the things she had to say and most importantly, she made you feel seen. Anything and everything about you felt safe with her. She was always so present and that kind of love and support and trust leaves a mark. There isn't a person that isn't better for having known her and that gift is something that I'll always carry with me. That I know our friends will always carry with them. In that way, I hope there will always be a part of her that lives on in us and in the people that loved her. Sending all my love to everyone - Alex Guzman

I worked with SSG Barajas at Eisenhower Army Podiatry Clinic, where she was our NCOIC. I have ALWAYS remembered Natalie with her " How can I help?" response, anytime her named was called. I can still hear her voice in my head saying that. She was animated and fun, with many funny facial expressions that I loved to see and will never forget. She was beautiful, sweet and a fearless woman with strength and dedication to her coworkers, friends, family and fur babies that I admired. My heart hurts to know that she is gone, for we have lost a Mighty Warrior and Soldier. It was my honor to have served with her.
Rest in Peace SSG Natalie Rose Barajas.

SSG Barajas was my NCOIC in the Surgical Podiatry clinic at Esienhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia. She was a soldiers soldier. I always admired her courage, professionalism and dedication to not only the Army but to our clinic. She always had my back and went the extra mile to get things done. I was in shock when I found out about her passing. I know she will be missed and my heart goes out to her family. I know that God just received a great soldier. God Bless and rest in peace.

My deepest condolences go out to Natalie and her friends and family. I worked with her in Alaska and she was smart, funny and kind. She was a joy to be around and was always in a good mood. I am very saddened by this loss, the world will not be as bright without her in it.
Respectfully,
Alexis

Natalie was a one of a kind person. She burned so very bright. I've met very few people so caring or genuine. This girl was amazing. I served with her in the military, one deployment in the 2009-2010 timeframe. I dealt with a lot of crap over there and Natalie was the biggest reason I made it out of there. I went through a tough time directly after that deployment and she was there for me too. I remember specifically one trip to middle of nowhere Tennessee, finding random antique shops to look through. We would meet up and have fast-food picnics, literally go play on a playground or just go hang out next to the river. She was there for me when I lost my grandmother when I really needed someone. She came to visit me over a four day weekend when I was in drill sergeant school when I desperately needed a friend. She saved my life. I have so many great memories of her, it's so hard to fathom that she's gone...
She helped so many people, she was a beacon of light in the dark for so many. Natalie was one of those people that I knew would change the world some how and I know she did, she changed my world for the better just as she did for many others.
You will always be in my heart Nat, I will always love you my friend.:dog2::feet:

I wanted to share a still of a video from one of my favorite times with Natalie and also share one of my favorite pictures of her (though she might not have appreciated my designation as such ). We were challenged to do the ALS ice bucket challenge a bunch of years ago and this was us moments before getting doused. The other picture was taken in honor of her absolute love of fire and fire pits.
All of my memories with Natalie are ones where I was learning, or laughing, or thinking in a way I hadn't before, or being inspired, or all of them at once. Natalie really was one of kind and I know that I am just one person out of so many who had their lives made so much better with the honor of her friendship. I'll miss her forever
