MARGUERITE R. CURTIS RN, NP, PhD
On December 13, 2019 Marguerite "Margie" Rose Curtis was finally free of Alzheimer's Disease after over ten years. She was born in Detroit on October 20, 1938 to George and Juanita (Conner) Robertson, and grew up in Cadillac Michigan.
An intelligent and caring woman who believed in education, Margie graduated from Cadillac High School, University of Michigan School of Nursing (BSN) and the Wayne State University School of Nursing (MSN, PhD). At Wayne, she specialized in the health care of women. She later continued the first independent nursing practice in Saginaw County, MI. She was a positive factor in the lives of the many patients she treated. Margie was a tireless volunteer, having helped with Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, the Underground Railroad women's shelter, Habitat for Humanity, the Hemlock United Methodist Church, and the Hemlock Lions Club (their first female president). She was a member of the Michigan Nurses Association and the University of Michigan School of Nursing Alumni Association.
A proud University of Michigan alum, Margie was a fierce and passionate fan of the U of M Football Team. It was well known among family and friends to expect lots of cheers and yelling while watching a game with Margie.
Always a champion of Women's Rights and networking, Margie loved her close circle of female friends that met to support each other and celebrate life: Jeanette Slade, Sue Winkler, Ann Page, Lois Lintner, and Lori Enos.
