Obituary of Donald E. Weisbarth

Donald E. Weisbarth, 8/24/1934 – 8/17/2019, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on August 17, 2019. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on August 24, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Edward and Margeritte (Granger) Weisbarth. He moved to Saginaw, MI with his parents as a child and later graduated from Saginaw High in 1953. He married JoAnn Yockey on February 2, 1957, and they shared 62 years of marriage. Don worked in the construction business for many years before he co-owned Donald Builder's Construction Company, and later was self-employed as a flooring installation contractor. Through the years Don used his knowledge and construction skills to build his family home as well as help build his children's homes. He also advised on his grandchildren's home projects. Don loved Jesus and faithfully served at Grace Baptist Church in Saginaw for over 60 years, at Crossroads Church (Trinity Baptist) of St. Charles for the past 6 years, and volunteered with various groups throughout his life. He was an avid reader, especially of historical accounts, and enjoyed watching Fox News. Traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening, campfires and working on projects in his pole barn were some of his favorite past times. Family was very important to him and he was affectionately known as 'Big Ed'. Don was a great encourager to all those he was around. Many remember him as a gentle soul who loved helping others in any way he could. He was quick witted and enjoyed making others smile and laugh. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by a brother, Larry (Donna) Weisbarth; 6 children; Sandra (William) Oehring, Jeffrey (Marcia) Weisbarth, Terry Manning (Benjamin) Manning, Paula (Elmer) Keysor, Richard (Christina) Weisbarth, and Robert (Tamara) Weisbarth; Fifteen grandchildren, Stephan (Michelle) Oehring, Ryan (Lisa) Oehring, Jonathon (Audrey) Oehring, Nicholas Manning (Nicole Boling), Justin (Nicole) Manning, Christopher (Ashlee) Weisbarth, Ashlee (Chad) Kline, Cregg (Jaclyn) Weisbarth, Nichole (Corey) Garstecki, Cara (Eric) Binelli, Josiah (Bethany) Keysor, Halie (Brennen) Hamsher, Nathan (Brooke) Keysor, Andrew (Emily) Weisbarth, and Rachel Weisbarth; great-grandchildren, Austin, Riley, Braeden, Owen, Evan, Grant Oehring, and Tenely Garstecki; and many dear friends as well. Don was preceded in death by his sister-in–law, Marla Weisbarth; and a grandchild, Ryan Oehring. Honoring Don's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Celebration Service will take place at 11 A.M., August 24, 2019, at Crossroads Church 7090 S. Graham Rd. St. Charles, MI 48609, with Pastor Dave Boillat officiating. Family Visitation will be on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 5-8 and August 24, 2019 from 10 – 11:30 A.M. at Crossroads Church.
