Marylou "Doodles" Wittkopp

Marylou "Doodles" Wittkopp (Beson), age 79 years, passed away peacefully at her home in Auburn, MI on June 15, 2019. Marylou was born to the late Harold & Hazel (Brown) Wittkopp on November 22, 1939 in Bay City, MI. Marylou graduated from Bay City Central High School where she played tennis and won the City Doubles Championship with Anne Connelly. During high school Marylou began playing city fast pitch softball where she excelled as one of the premier left-handed windmill pitchers around. Marylou played for several of the great teams of the day including Pat's Place, The Builderettes, and Amelith & Drewry's Beer. Amelith won Class D State Champs in 1958 and Class C State Champs in 1959 & 1960. Drewry's won Class B State Champs in 1962 and Class A State Champs in 1963. In 2013 the Amelith Team of 1958, '59 & '60, along with the Drewry's team of 1962 & '63 were inducted into the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame.
Later on Marylou enjoyed spending time with her family, attending sporting events of her grandchildren, as well as playing euchre or board games or just being together laughing.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kimberly Beson of Bay City, MI and Thomas (Deanne) Beson of Laingsburg, MI; grandchildren, Hannah (Dimitry) Beaubrun of Fishers, IN and Aaron (Jenna) Beson of Muskegon, MI; great-grandchildren, Elliot & Isaiah Beaubrun; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Wittkopp and best friend, Janette Taglauer.
Cremation has taken place and no service is planned.
