Obituary of Mary K. Otto
Mary K. Otto, age 60, of Pigeon, was given the gift of eternal life on Saturday May 18, 2019. She was a stalwart of faith and love to all who knew and met her.
Mary was born June 19, 1958 in Pigeon. She was united in marriage to her husband Michael by Rev Raymond Orth at Cross Lutheran Church, in Pigeon, on March 12, 1983.
She attended Cross Lutheran School. In 1976, she graduated from Laker High School and was a graduate of Central Michigan University. After graduation, she worked at Thumb National Bank for 15 years before becoming a State Farm Agent for the past 24 years. Mary was a 4-H leader, and a guitar and piano teacher for many years.
Mary was an active part of Cross Lutheran Church and School. The roots of Cross began with her Great-grandfather, Reverend Richard Praetorius, who established the church in 1891. Pastor Praetorius offered a room of his own home for the beginnings of the school and it was used as a school for 14 years. That was the home she grew up in. Because of her faith and love of the Lord, Mary served faithfully in the church. She volunteered her time and talents by playing organ in the church from a young age and more recently offered her talents by playing piano for the Wednesday night services at Cross.
Mary is survived by her husband Michael D. Otto, daughter Tracy Polega and her husband Brandon, a son Jeffrey Otto and his wife Maria and their daughter Clara; Brother Robert Hamilton and his wife Mary; Sister Betty Auernhamer and her husband David. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Eugene and Ruth and one beloved brother John.
