Obituary of Gerald L. Jehnsen

Jehnsen, Gerald L. Bay City, Michigan Gerald "Jerry", age 81, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at his home with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer. Jerry was born June 19, 1937 in Lansing, MI to the late Clifford and Coral Jehnsen. Jerry started his career in plumbing with an apprenticeship in 1961 with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local # 85 of Saginaw, MI. Jerry was an invaluable and loyal member of his community and Local # 85 until his death. In 1984, Jerry started his business with partner Bob Horn - United Plumbing and Heating which was located in Bay City MI. Jerry was also an active member of the Bay Area Association of the Michigan Plumbing and Mechanical contractors. While a member, Jerry served as a representative in several positions, including as an instructor for the apprenticeship program up until his death. Jerry enjoyed time with his many friends and family, and enjoyed summers at the cabin on Lake Avalon. Jerry also loved spending time traveling, hunting, skiing, and fishing. He was a devoted fan and enjoyed watching the University of Michigan sports. Jerry had many hobbies which included his love for golf and cars. He was a member of the Vassar Golf & Country Club and the Saginaw Strokers Car Club for over 50 years. Jerry is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years Sharon; son, Rick; stepsons, Dave (Wendy) and Dan (Monie); grandchildren, Megan, Jesse, David, Kipp, Colin, Hunter, and Madison; great-grandson, Cliff; sisters, Jernein and Sharell; as well as his furry companion "Cheers". Jerry will also forever be remembered by his extended family, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Allen; mother in law, Helen Lockwood; and father in law Carlton Lockwood "CJ". Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Albans Episcopal Church in Bay City, MI. Rite of Committal will follow for immediate family & friends at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw, MI. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Following the committal, we would also like to invite everyone to join us for a celebration of Jerry's life at the Pulaski Hall of Saginaw in Saginaw, MI from 1:30-4:00 pm. Lastly, the family asks that you spend time with your children, take a walk on the beach with your loved ones, and make a toast to enduring friendships; lifelong and beyond.
