Obituary of Joyce Ruth Danek

Joyce Ruth (Fanter) Danek Midland, MI Formerly of Crystal Lake, IL Joyce Ruth Danek, 89, passed away July 27, 2018. Born, Joyce Ruth Fanter to Florence (Hochberger) and Harry Emil Fanter in Oak Park, IL October 3, 1928. Joyce, her brothers Edward and Robert and parents lived in Berwyn, IL where Joyce graduated from Morton High School. She met her future husband, August James Danek, while they were working at Hotpoint. They were married on October 16, 1948. He predeceased her in 1988. Joyce and Augie and their two children moved to Crystal Lake, IL in 1958 where they lived, immersed in a community of lifelong friendships. Joyce spent 60 years nurturing those friendships and she will be missed. She also loved their Mitten Lake, WI cottage, but mostly she loved her family, friends and pets. Joyce loved to read, play any board game that brought people together, and was a crossword puzzle expert. Surviving children: Jeffrey (Fran) Danek, Algonquin, IL, and Janet Danek, Midland, MI. Grandchildren: Lisa (Mike) Rentz and Jim (Laurie) Brinker, Chip (Corrine O'Connell) Amati, and Nicole Olesen, and five great-grandchildren. Per her request, cremation has taken place. During her brief time in Midland, Joyce has left deep tracks on the hearts of many caregivers and friends, to whom her family is very grateful. Her family would like to thank the staff at Bickford Cottage and Storypoint, as well as Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Cheryl and Braelyn Bowker and Mary Anne Tessin. An outdoor celebration of Joyce's life, followed by an ice cream social will take place Saturday August 18, 2018 at 1:30pm at 150 S. Kellogg Road, Midland, MI 48640. The Reverend Roger Pancost officiating. All are welcome, casual dress. In the event of rain, the service will take place at the United Church of Christ, 4100 Chestnut Hill Drive, Midland, MI 48642. A celebration of Joyce's life will also take place on Saturday, October 20, 2018, 2-5pm, at the Crystal Lake Park District's Main Beach Pavilion at 300 Lakeshore Dr., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A service of remembrance at 2pm, The Reverend Arn Schaper officiating. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
