Obituary of Charles Leibrand

Charles "Chuck" Barnes Leibrand, age 72, of Bay City, MI was born on September 28, 1945 and passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018, after a long battle with health issues. His family was at his side. Chuck, a very loving supportive husband, dad and grandpa, was a true family man. He would always say, "There's nothing more important than family!". He was very interested in electronics and always wanted the next latest and greatest computer, phone, CB, amateur radio and gadgets. At the age of 54, after 37 years, Chuck had retired from a successful career with Radio Shack. Chuck loved to travel. He and his wife traveled to many far off places, took many family vacations, and last minute road trips (those were his favorites). He was an avid reader of all types books especially fantasy novels, a member of several local rose and garden societies, and had a keen interest in politics and news. Chuck was very strong in his faith. He was a cradle Episcopalian and very active in his church, where he served as a member of many committees both at the church and the diocese, sang in the choir, published the churches monthly newspaper for 12 years, and served as senior warden on the vestry of the church for many years. He was loved and looked up to by so many. Many thought of him as the "peace maker". Chuck is survived by his wife, Maureen (Mickie) S. Leibrand (Lewis) of 51 years; his son, Charles D. (Lisa) Leibrand; daughter, Catherine A. Leibrand; his four grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Lucas and Elizabeth; and his brother, Karl D. (Sharon) Leibrand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Karl K. and Shirley L. Leibrand (Buck); his aunts and uncle, Dorothy E. Flood (Leibrand) and Horace D. and Grace Hodge. The family would like to express to the Doctors, Nurses and Medical Staff at McLaren Bay Region Hospital (ICU/ Neuro CCU), their appreciation for the compassionate care that Chuck received his last days on earth. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 815 N. Grant Street, Bay City, MI 48708. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 AM – 11 AM. The Reverend Susan C. Rich will officiate. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Bay City, MI.
