Dennis A. Grai, age 67 passed away December 20, 2017. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. Dennis was a caring and fun loving person. Although he was legally blind, he never let that stop him from living an extraordinary life. He was a computer programmer in the banking industry until his vision deteriorated. He loved music and jamming with various bands, including the Haymarket Riot in the late 1960's. He made great friends and played in many places in Michigan, saying it was one of the best times of his life. He was very creative with things on hand and transformed them into art. One of his favorite things to create was unconventional wind chimes. He loved writing and was a published poet. A large part of his life was his involvement in the martial arts. He was a second degree black belt in Cuong Nhu and also taught women's self-defense classes at the YMCA.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, rollerskating, and playing Cribbage, but he really loved visiting his grandchildren in the U.P.
His is survived by his wife of 22 years, Becky Grai; his daughter, Melissa (Mark) Curran of Marquette, MI; three grandchildren, Riley, Logan and Alexis Curran; a nephew and niece, Joshua D. Grai of Essexville, MI and Chairity (Kris) LaDuke of Arizona. He was predeceased by his parents, Duane and Betty Grai, and brothers Terry and Larry Grai, all of Florida.
