Obituary of Lewis E. Seiferlein
Seiferlein, Lewis E. passed away gently Tuesday, October 3, 2017 after a brief illness at Covenant Hospital, surrounded by family. Luke was born on February 9, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Adolph and Catherine (Parks) Seiferlein.
On November 18, 1944 he married Alice Grace Marino in Mississippi. They had 59 loving years together before his "Brigette" predeceased him on December 24, 2003.
After graduating from Arthur Hill Tech, Luke served in the US Army during WWII where his tour of duty took him into Germany. After an honorable discharge, he began a lifelong career as a Carpenter. Luke worked for Pumford Construction, retiring February 5, 1988 as a field superintendent. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for many years.
Luke was an avid fisherman, spending many family vacations in the U.P. as well as hunting northern Michigan and Alaska. Luke was a very kind and gentle soul, never complaining - right to the very end. He loved nature and the simple things of life such as baking one of the "most awesome" blueberry pies and molasses cookies. Luke's most favorite thing to do later in life was "throwing those dice" at the casino. He never turned down a trip to Mt. Pleasant where "everybody knew his name".
Surviving are his son, Alan (Kathleen) Seiferlein from Tawas, Michigan and daughter, Kathryn (Mike) Lapine of Saginaw, Michigan. He also leaves four grandchildren, Brian (Cheryl) Seiferlein of Waterford, MI and Wendy (Joel) Hubbell from Andover, MN, Matt (Claudia) Lapine, Saginaw, Michigan and Arianne (John) Roberts, Saginaw, Michigan. He also leaves nine great grandchildren. Luke was predeceased by his four sisters, Helen Galonska, Beatrice Griebel, Lillian (Toots) Gaertner, and Jane Longtain.
Per Luke's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery Chapel, 950 N. Center Rd., Saginaw MI, Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11:00 A.M..
