Obituary of Rose M. (Armer) Pauquette
Rose M. Pauquette, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 29, 2017. Rose passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. Born Rose Marie Armer in Corinth, New York on October 11, 1927, the daughter of Leon and Letha (Brown) Armer, Rose grew up in the north country of New York state, graduating from Morrisonville High School in 1945. Rose married James J. Pauquette in Glens Falls, New York on January 24, 1948. Rose was a whiz with numbers, and worked as a bookkeeper in her early adult years. Life took Rose and Jim to Virginia, Delaware, California, Connecticut, and finally, to Michigan. A master at painting, wall papering, and furniture refinishing, Rose made a beautiful home for her family wherever they lived, devoted her time and love to her family and home, and always made time to serve children and her church.
All who knew Rose were the beneficiaries of her compassion, kindness and listening ear. Rose's family and friends knew her as strong, centered, and selfless. After her children were grown, while living on Stark St. in Saginaw near two hospitals, Rose devoted herself to her Hospitality House ministry, opening her home to families in need of a place to stay while a loved one was in the hospital, as well as to young interns. She put her listening ear to good use as many appreciated coming home to someone to talk to, rather than an empty hotel room. Rose was also a loving servant to children. Whether in church, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, or as a neighborhood mom, children knew they had a friend in Rose.
Rose is will be missed by her children James (Nedra) of Double Adobe, AZ; Letha (Rex) Raymond of Lake Station, MI; Thomas (Karen) of Grove City, OH; Andre (Lori) of Fort Wayne, IN; and Amy Pauquette of Bay City, MI; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Janet Pauquette, several beloved brothers-and-sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and friends, including many who called her "Mom" or "Grandma Rose". Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-six years, James, her parents, her sisters Ruth and Mary, and her brothers Leon, Joseph, Thomas, Clarence and Anthony.
According to her wishes cremation has already taken place. Rose's family will gather for a memorial service and celebration of her life later this summer.
