Obituary of Susane G. Carlson
Susane Grace Carlson, passed on to the next world on July 10, 2016 at age 71. During the last five months since her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer she enjoyed many adventures with family and friends, checking much off her bucket list. Sue (or Susie to close friends and family) was born December 6, 1944 in Flint, MI to parents Earl and Virginia (Hunt) Eastman. She moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan at age 12 and enjoyed the freedoms of life in the Keweenaw Peninsula. There she met Dennis Carlson, whom she married August 24, 1963. Sue and Dennis began their married life while he was in college and moved to Muskegon, MI where Dennis took a teaching job in 1966. There they also began their journey of faith together joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They then moved to and from the U.P., Wisconsin, Florida, and Alaska, finally settling in mid-Michigan and raising six children. Sue was a full-time mother and homemaker. In her later years she loved camping, quilting, and researching family history. During her last year she moved to Mesa, Arizona to be near her younger grandchildren and escape Michigan winters. She was a woman who was passionate about everything, cared deeply about her family, and loved to include everyone as part of her family. She always remembered birthdays and holidays with cards, candy, and gifts for each child or grandchild. She made an effort to brighten our days and make us feel loved regardless of how far away we lived. Sue leaves behind six children Sean (Kim) Carlson of Saginaw, MI, Eric (Elizabeth) Carlson of Midland, MI, Laura (Allan) Dollaway of Williamston, MI, Sara (Paul) Larsen of Saginaw, MI, Jared (Luisa Maria) Carlson of Mesa, AZ, and Joshua (Ashley) Carlson of Midland, MI, 19 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, as well as her sister Gail Eastman Carlson and brother Mitchell Eastman. Passing before her were her parents, her dear husband Dennis, and her youngest grandson Samuel Carlson just two weeks ago. A memorial celebration of Sue's life will be held on Friday, July 22 at 6pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1415 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, MI 48638.
