Sending condolences and love to Terri, Mark, Richard, Jean, Joann, spouses and families. Your mom (Doris, Dodo) was such an important part of our family for as long as we can remember.
We have so many memories of the Biggers/Valdiserri families from Saginaw, Van Etten Lake house and cabin, and Oscoda! Fun times with both of our families as we were growing up. The many things that bring immediate thoughts of Doris are reading, teaching, love of children, Postum and exercise.
My personal memory was how Doris helped me set up my in-class library when I was doing my student teaching and how important it was to do individualized teaching. She was such an inspiration!
But the reason we loved Doris the most was for being our mom's, Peggy's, best friend from high school until she passed away. Doris was always loving and supportive!
May all your wonderful memories bring you comfort during this time.
Love,
Valdiserri children

Doris was a very lovely lady and a great teacher. She cared a lot for her students and made sure that they did their best. There were no slackers under Doris's watch! Doris was very passionate about many things. She worked to obtain and protect teacher rights in our union. She always livened up the teacher lounge with her opinions and declarations. She helped us to become healthier eaters. She was a great mentor, I learned so much from her. My family will always remember the great weeks and all the fun we had at her Oscoda house that she shared with us. Freeland is a great place to learn because of her contributions. She leaves a great legacy and is missed by many. Condolences to her family.

I remember Doris being a passionate reading teacher. When textbook companies decided to leave out phonics lessons, she made sure we purchased separate phonics books, so the children would have that skill.
