Obituary of Geroge A. Vanderlooven

Vanderlooven, George A. Bay City, MI George passed away November 11, 2015 at the age of 79. He was born April 29, 1936 to the late Joseph J and Martha (Verhaeghe) Vanderlooven. He married Shirley Mae Prahl on June 14, 1958 and she predeceased him June 7, 2007. He retired from General Motors in 1990 after 25 years of service, worked for the Street Department in Essexville for 9 years, served 6 years in the U.S. Army from 1956-1961, and was a member of the Short Horn Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his children, Patti (A.J.) Strieter, Kathy Jo (Scott) Maguire, and Scott (Annyn) Vanderlooven; grandchildren Casey and Jesse Strieter, Kayla and Nick Maguire, Josh and Justin Vanderlooven; daughter in law, Melanie Vanderlooven; step children, Troy (Cournay) Sahaydak, Tina Olver, Ranae (Gene) Rettelle, & Tom Olver; mother in law, Sarah Prahl; brothers Joseph (Helen) Vanderlooven; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Lee; grandson Cody; wife, Judy Olver; brothers Gustave and Adolph "Duffy"; and sister, Marion Pletzke. He had many special friends and family, and the family would like to express their thanks to all who took good care of George and provided love and support. No services are planned at this time.
