Obituary of Edward Roy Mathews

Mathews, Edward Roy Vassar, MI Edward passed away on May 16, 2015 at the age of 68. He was born August 27, 1946 to Edward E. and Genevieve Mathews. He served as an Altar Boy when he was young; went on to serve his country in the U. S. Air Force and the National Guard; was a member of the American Legion Post #225; and retired in 2002. He was active in the Millington Community Center and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Schwalm) Mathews; children, Michael (Margaret) Mathews, Heidi (Pat) Searles, & Jeff Mathews; stepchildren, Fred Gouine, Hannah (Todd) Smith, Hank Gouine, & Tony Gouine; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his mother, Genevieve "Jenny" Mathews; sister in law, Sharon Mathews; and brother in law, Bob Knight. He was predeceased by his father, Edward Elmer Mathews; his sister, Evelyn Knight; and his brother, Larry Mathews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Millington Community Center, 8705 State St., Millington MI. Reverend Mitchell Drew of the Vassar Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
