He was my brother and my friend. Before Nam I idolized him as anyone does his older brother. When he came back he was different and I didn't realize I had been mad at him for 45 years only because I failed to recognize that he hadn't changed, the war had changed him. I will miss you every day my brother and my hero and can only say SEMPER FI and rest in peace cause we shall hunt together again some day.
Your loving brother

The time you picked us up in your semi, but there was no passenger seats, so we sat on buckets. You took us to the Michigan State Fair, dropped 50 bucks on some game so we could win a stuffed animal, and then told us how we should never spend money on those scams. The way you taught me to slow down if there was a deer in the road, because if there's one, there's always more. The way you took my cats after mom died because I couldn't keep them, and then had Pink cremated when he passed. I'm taking care of your babies now Dad. The way you called me "Bug". How you took me to Pink Floyd at 13. Your sensitivity and generosity. I love you Daddy...

I have to begin with the very first time I met Gary. I had just started dating Tim hadn't met any of the family yet. I already had plans of camping with a couple girlfriends at silver lake and Tim was camping with friends on the high banks of the pine river. Us girls drove over to the pine for the evening. We headed back to silver lake early morning and got on the main road when we had a blowout. One car stopped to help us change tire. He was on his way to work in Cadillac. He mentioned that his brother was camping down the 2 track that we had just left. I asked who his brother was he said Tim Ouellette. Yes it was Gary! Sadly he didn't remember this first meeting we had but I remember like it was yesterday. It was 39 years ago. So for him it was just how he was,big hearted lending a hand.Love and miss you brother.

Looking for deer tracks, canoeing the AuSable, taking Datsun rabbit hunting, sitting on the tank of my dad's hog...the sounds of love and laughter from Grandma and Grandpa's house, as we'd look down from the loft and watch the adults play cards or sit and talk. Snowmobiles and fishing poles, camo and hunter orange, tubing cold rivers and swimming in even colder lakes, a Caribbean cruise and Ouellette family Christmases. I have so many memories that I don't even know where to start. I love you Daddy. Rest easy, and Semper Fi. We will never forget you.

Man, what a brother! Taught me hunting, fishing, and how to enjoy the outside world! Had some differences (hell, we were brothers!), but still respected oneanother! The missing has just begun!

While toobing (toob-a-loo!), Uncle Gary was always leader of the pack & first one in the river. Scouting ahead, he'd always be first at Wounded Knee, with a front row seat to us intoxicated idiots doing our best to get outta that damn river! Will always cherish these times with him & the family. XO
