Mrs. Ott, age 93, loving wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Lillian was born in AuGres, Michigan on April 7, 1921 to the late Daniel and Katherine (Jantzi) Swartz. She married the love of her life Carl Ott, on August 30, 1947. Faithful in all that she did, Lillian courageously served her country during World War II as a Rosie the Riveter at DeFoe Ship Yard. After the war she worked for several years at Autolite (Prestolite) as an inspector. She also served her Lord faithfully throughout her life at First Baptist Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church as Sunday school teacher, deaconess, and many other task that were needed. She was a devoted Tigers baseball fan and avid gardener. She also loved going out to eat, especially with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Ott is survived by her 3 daughters, Karla Ott of Bay City, Kim (Byron) Mallette of Sarasota, Florida and Annette (Mark) Martinez of Alpena. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Nicole Martinez, Aaron Martinez, and Joshua Martinez and fiance' Chelsey Henderson; 2 sisters, Katherine (Dave) Beachy and Mary VanDriessche.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Henry, Clarence, and Daniel Swartz and 3 sisters, Gladys VanDriessche, Ann Gager, and Alma Youngberg.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday April 25, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 1145 W. Center Rd., Essexville, Michigan. The family will receive friends at church on Saturday from 10 AM - 11 AM prior to the service. Those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to First Baptist Church or Heartland Hospice of Bay City or the wishes of the donor.
