Obituary of Dannie Frank Stockford

Dan “Pup” Stockford was born in Saginaw, Michigan August 9, 1945 and passed away in his home on December 15, 2024.  He and Mary Kay (Coonan) Stockford were married for 58 years.  They have three surviving children, Bethany (Lisa) Oudekerk, Jennifer Stockford, and Steven (Jill) Stockford.  Also surviving are, eight grandchildren who were the pride of his life- Cory, Alec, Olivia and Julia Gliebe, Evan and Mason Oudekerk, and Rachel and Grant Stockford. 

He was the first in his family to go to college graduating from Delta College with his associates degree.  Dan spent his working years in sales.  He primarily worked in food sales servicing local restaurants and organizations in the Thumb Area and winning awards for his efforts.  Dan had a deep love of music.  He was a church choir member and would bring his guitar to family events often entertaining with humorous songs, pop culture jingles and Christmas music.

Dan modeled the value of service volunteering for many groups and agencies throughout his lifetime.  He was a Big Brother, and participated as a Little League Umpire and Hospice Volunteer for many years.  Dan was a “One Week One Street” team member and volunteer Santa Claus for organizations, private gatherings and in the Saginaw Christmas Parade.  

An avid outdoorsman, Dan spent every calm day out fishing on the Saginaw Bay and each November deer hunting in Mio.  He had many lifelong friendships enjoying time together playing cards.  He adored his neighbors and worked alongside them to support fundraising for the Bay City Tennis Courts and assisting with landscaping. Dan loved life and laughter.

Honoring Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring of 2025.
