Coach - aside from excellent instruction, your demeanor and thoughtfulness changed the way I viewed the game of tennis and life. I was and am so proud to have received lessons from you in your retired days in the mid 2000s. I'll be sure to visit the Harold Holcomb Tennis Courts next time I'm home.
Much love,
Reed Soehnel

I started my career at Bush Elementary where I quickly learned what a treasure our district had with Hoke running the technology department A as well as spiriting along the tremendous tennis program. Hoke jokes were what today's generation call "dad" jokes and as much as we all groaned they are what brought out that smile that lit up every room he was in. He was one of the most positive people I will know in my life and while over the years I didn't see him as often as in my early career, I consider myself extremely fortunate to have known him at all. Every person that interacted with him are considerably better people simply because they did. Rest in Peace Hoke.

Coach was so much more than a coach. He was a mentor and taught valuable life lessons. He showed me how to dedicate myself to be the best I could be. Helping me achieve a state level accomplishment that I am proud of to this day. He taught you to have repect for yourself and the team around you. He taught with a gentle yet strict process. Reenie was such an incredible support to us ladies as well. I will never forget the joy and forever friendships he has given us all over the years. I am so sad to see him pass however I feel so blessed to have been one of the lucky ones to have experienced one of true greats influences in my life. Rest in peace, you beautiful man! Yours truly Carrie Thompson Asel

Hoke came to Essexville Schools just before my freshman year at Garber as a P.E. teacher and J.V. football coach. My father passed away the 1st day of football practice and Hoke took me under his wing for the rest of high school. Probably the most important male influence of my life. Love ya Hoke

Uncle, Harold, So sorry to hear and learning of your passing. Many great memories of my childhood with you, Donna, Matt and Michelle. You were either at our family's home (your brother Phil's) or we were at yours. Many weekends, holidays, deer hunting at Grandpa's cabin, and even vacations. Last time I saw you was in the mid 90's , when I called you up while in the area and visited for a few hours. Wish we could of all stayed connected over these lost years. Life is too short...Miss you. Brad Holcomb
