Carol Lee (Taylor) Dee, a beacon of humor and kindness, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on October 28, 2024, at the age of 85 in Saginaw, MI. Born on October 7, 1939, in Ludington, MI, Carol's life journey was marked by her infectious laughter, generosity of spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Carol was the cherished matriarch of her family, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her son, Thomas Dee; her daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Lowell Zimmerman; her brother, Thomas Taylor; her beloved twin sisters, Janis Sheltraw and Jean (Thom Danenhower) Bond; and her sister-in-law, Jackie Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Dee, brother, David Taylor, and brother-in-law, Curt Sheltraw. Carol's nieces, nephew, and her adored fur babies, Bailey and Jinxie, will miss her deeply.
A proud alumna of Saginaw High School on Webber Street, Carol was a member of the institution's first graduating class. Her academic achievements were a testament to her dedication and set the stage for the many roles she would embrace throughout her life.
Carol's professional journey was as diverse as it was fulfilling. She began her career at Jacobson's in downtown Saginaw, where her bright personality shone. After marrying the love of her life, Joseph Dee, she transitioned into the roles of a devoted wife, an exceptional mother, and a homemaker extraordinaire. Later, she returned to the workforce, bringing her signature sense of humor to Dom's Meat Market and Michigan Coni-Island. Carol's colleagues not only appreciated her work ethic but also cherished her company.
Carol's interests and hobbies were as vibrant as her personality. She held a special affection for her hometown of Ludington, where she spent many joyous moments with her family. As a child, she lovingly referred to Lake Michigan as "Uncle Ray's Lake," a moniker that showcased her endearing sense of humor. Carol was also an avid shopper, always on the lookout for treasures at local stores, rummage sales, and the flea market in Clare. These simple pleasures were the backdrop for countless happy memories with her loved ones.
Those who knew Carol will remember her for the laughter she brought into every room and the thoughtful gestures that defined her character. She was the epitome of kindness, always considering the feelings of others and bringing joy through her witty remarks and compassionate actions.
Carol's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the golden threads of the relationships she nurtured. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will continue to inspire smiles and acts of kindness.
