James “Spud” Melvin Schumacher, age 71, of Port Austin, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 15, 2024 with his family by his side, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Sandusky, MI on July 23, 1953 to MaryAnn and the late Melvin Schumacher. He attended North Huron Schools before graduating and going on to trade school. He married his high school sweetheart, Debra Gordon, on November 3rd, 1973. He worked in machine repair at Tower Automotive for 46 years. He could fix anything and everything. He loved his wife and family immensely and enjoyed spending time with them. Jim really loved a good joke and made everyone laugh with his own. He will be truly missed by all who loved him and who were a part of his life.
