Obituary of Nancy Puffer
Nancy Puffer, age 90, passed away on Sunday October 13, 2024 at her farm in St. Charles, Michigan. She is survived by her sons, Bo, Mike, and Jim; daughters-in-law, Kris, Laura, and Debbie; grandchildren, Kelsy, Nick, Ryan, Tori, Michael, Samantha, and Meagan; and seven great- grandchildren.
Nancy was born in 1933 in Evanston, Illinois, to Bohumir and Agnes Placek, and attended Northwestern University. She married Mike Puffer after college and started her career as a school counselor. Beside her family, Nancy’s passion was her horses, where she owned, rode, and bred them for over 40 years. Several of her horses had Seattle Slew blood in them and ran at Churchill Downs.
Nancy was also very involved in local and national politics where she fought against corrupt politicians and the legalization of marijuana. In her early years, she was an advocate and great supporter for the American Cancer Society, as well a leader in youth drug counseling for students and young adults. Nancy’s great adventure was purchasing the Swan Creek Christmas Tree Farm where she devoted the majority of her life’s work. Nancy lived a life on her terms, and was a strong and feisty person that will be missed by all that knew her. All she asked in her last days was that Donald Trump be voted back in on November 5, 2024.
Nancy’s ashes will be spread over her beloved “Kingdom”. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid Michigan.
