Obituary of Ronald Edward Morse
Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald Edward Morse of Bay City, MI, age 87 passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. The son of the late Clifford and Ethel Morse was born on June 14, 1937. As a young man, Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing, raising pigeons, spending time with family and ‘messing around with his friends.’ He also enjoyed football where the legendary Bay City Central football coach Elmer Engel showed a particular interest in him and Golden Gloves boxing where he was offered the opportunity to turn professional. He declined them both, instead choosing to work to help support his family. He worked many different jobs during his life, but his favorites were as an iron worker, as a millwright at General Motors where he retired from in 1986 at the ripe old age of forty-nine, and as the owner of Ronald Morse and Associates, a life insurance and investment company, which he retired from in 2002. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On April 21, 1956, Ron married the love of his life, Rose Marie Tobias, and their journey together as husband and wife lasted for more than 66 years until her death on October 20, 2022. They enjoyed spending time together with family and friends, playing games, hosting and attending family events, participating in worship services, reading their bibles, studying the word, getting closer to God, and watching TV. They especially enjoyed watching baseball (Go Tigers!), football (Go Lions! Go Blue!). Ron also enjoyed watching WWII movies, western movies, Gunsmoke and anything John Wayne. Their greatest joy together was spending time with their family. He coached / managed Little League baseball (won two city championships), she managed concession stands, they attended school functions, church functions, dance recitals and a variety of different sporting events just to name a few. They rarely missed anything to do with family until their health would no longer allow them to travel. Ron was also an avid hunter, fisherman, skeet shooter and all-around ‘tinkerer.’ If it needed fixing, he would fix it.
He leaves behind many loved ones to cherish his memory including his children Ronald A.
