Bill, age 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, September 13, 2024. He was born on October 15, 1941, to the late William E. Magill and Victoria H. Magill in Bay City, Michigan.
He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1963.
On November 23, 1963, he married the former Lucille Marie Emerson. He and Lucy shared over 60 years together.
Bill was an avid golfer, voracious reader, and meticulous gardener. But mostly he loved spending time with his family. He was a proud Girl Dad and enthusiastically supported his children and grandchildren’s many sports and other endeavors.
He had many years of service in public education, working as a teacher for Saginaw Township, a high school principal at Mayville High School, an elementary principal and Superintendent at White Pigeon Community Schools. He was passionate about education and cared about kids.
Surviving are his wife Lucille, his daughters Wendie Kistler (Shane), Catherine Magill, Michelle Brines (Michael) and Heather Walker (Tom), his grandchildren Mason, Matthew, Dana, Renee, Avery and Maryanne. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law Carol Trombley, Janet Gillard, Connie Cianek (James), Judy Emerson and brother-in-law William Hughes (Janet) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister Janis Forge and her husband William Forge, his parents-in-law Clarence and Madeline Emerson, his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Mary Ann Emerson, a sister-in-law Mary Jo Hughes, and brothers-in-law Robert Trombley, Stewart Gillard and Michael Emerson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Sugar Springs Golf Course Activity Center, 1930 Sugar River Road, Gladwin, MI 48624.
