Obituary of Jean Ann Kuebler
Jean A. Kuebler
Saginaw Twp. Michigan
Jean Ann Kuebler, (Aragon/Michalski) beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 83 years old.
Jean will be remembered for her infectious laugh, huge heart, devotion to her family, strong-willed personality, and readiness to speak up for herself and others.
Jean was born on April 24, 1941 and grew up in Saginaw Michigan, where she was raised by her grandparents Vincent and Prakseda (Lakomi) Michalski. Jean graduated from Saginaw High School and soon began her career, eventually retiring from the State of Michigan after 30 years with Children's Protective Services. She also spent five years as the Recording Secretary for the UAW Local 6000, and served as a member of the UAW Women’s Committee.
When she wasn’t working or enjoying time with her daughters (Kari and Sue), she kept busy volunteering and singing in the choir at St. Helen Catholic Church where she was a long-time member. Jean spent time at Stardust lanes on her bowling league, organizing and shopping at garage sales, polka dancing, cooking, and laughing with her multitudes of beloved friends.
In her retirement, she embraced life fully, filling her days playing cards with her card club, traveling, singing, planning lunches and dinners with friends and family, and cherishing every moment. Her dedication to service spanned many years, volunteering on the executive boards of the Catholic Heritage Museum and the Valley State Employees Credit Union. A passionate learner, she was also an active, long-standing member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) where she delighted in taking continuing education classes at SVSU.
Jean took immense pride in raising two strong, independent daughters. She set a remarkable example of hard work, living with joy, and what it truly means to be a great mother.
Above all, Jean cherished her role as a grandmother. She devoted her later years to ensuring that her grandchildren (Taylor, Jacob, Nick, and Emily) felt deeply loved and treasured. Her affection was evident in the countless hours spent playing board games, crocheting blankets, baking cookies, and thoughtfully mailing newspaper clippings with helpful tidbits. She also loved finding fun little gifts for them on QVC or at garage sales. Four years ago, Jean was joyfully promoted to "GG" with the arrival of her great-grandson Lucius. She adored FaceTiming with him, playing together, and spoiling him whenever she could.
She is survived by her daughters Kari Thrush of Lansing, Susan (David) Gadille of Bay City, her four grandchildren, Taylor Thrush, Jacob Thrush, Nicholas Gadille, and Emily Gadille; great-grandson Lucius Thrush and beloved dog Lucy.
