Obituary of Francis Andre Mayes
Please share a memory of Francis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Francis Andre “Frank” Mayes passed away peacefully at home with his family present on August 17, 2024. He was born March 5, 1948 to Beatrice and Clarence Mayes.
Frank was best known for his great sense of humor and witty gift of gab. Most any day you could find Frank sitting on his screened in front porch with a coffee in one hand and a _____ in the other. One of Frank’s greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always valued time spent with his family and good friends. He loved boating, music, gardening, telling stories, the occasional card game with friends, and always enjoyed going out to a nice dinner. In his younger days he played drums in a band, earned a black belt in Karate, and played a winning game of pool on a league. Most recently Frank enjoyed e-biking with his “sister wives”.
Frank worked a little in the family bakery business and transitioned into sales. He was very successful in the beverage, car, and home businesses. He earned many awards in his career. He was a long-time member of the BC Lion’s Club as well.
Frank is survived by his wife, Maggie; sons, Jeffrey (Michelle) Mayes, and Luke (Tracy) Mayes; sisters, Anna (Tom) Goodman and Marcia (Don) Kerkau; brother, Ferrell (Shelby) Mayes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Richard Turbin, Jim (Flora) Turbin, Liz Anderson, Nancy Turbin (Vicki); grandchildren, Trent, Frankie (Chantel), Macey (Antonio), Kelsey, and Brayden; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Alexandria, and Santiago; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Clarence Mayes; grandson, Austin Zoellner; sister-in-law, Nancy Turbin; and brother in-law Bob Anderson.
A huge debt of gratitude to the amazing McLaren-Flint 10th floor medical staff for the excellent and compassionate care given to Frank. God bless you all.
A celebration of life is being planned for a future date. The family would greatly appreciate those planning an expression of sympathy, to consider memorial contributions to the Wishes of the Family.
