So many memories of my dear ‘Aunt Shirl’! When I was young: overnights on Beck Dr (she made me drink a glass of milk before I could have Koolaid), trips up north where we played rummy with Uncle Ray- for M&Ms! In my teen years: babysitting for ‘the kids’, her hiring me to clean bathrooms at the Merrily house cuz she hated cleaning bathrooms! As an adult: she told me if I’m not moisturizing my face I should start so I don’t wrinkle prematurely like my mom (sorry Mom!). Finally, in more recent years: our lunches and dinners out… we laughed a lot-that contagious laugh always brought joy- and on the way home, she would say, “I’m glad your parents made me your Godmother and I would say “Me,too”. I was really the lucky one! Miss you ‘Aunt Shirl’… thanks for the many joyful times!
To Matt, Jackie, Liz and David… wishing you all comfort and peace in knowing how much you did to love and care for your mom..
Love, Nancy

Aunt Shirley was always fun to see. She was always up for a good time. She had the best, most infectious laugh of anyone I know and if I was a comedian, I would pay for her to come to everyone of my shows knowing I would get at least one loud roof rattling laugh I’ll miss her

As the one who knew her the longest I feel a sense of profound loss and emptiness for my loving cousin. We had many great times on Palmer and beyond. Have many parties with the family and keep watch over all of us. Love you much.

“Mrs.B” has been part of my family forever! Cards, cottages and nights out with my mom and dad (many times while I was babysitting). She was expected and at every family gathering for decades with her great laugh and zingy comments. You couldn’t be down for long if you sat by “Mrs. B”. We love you.

I feel truly blessed to have known Shirley and to have spent some wonderful moments with her, particularly at Aunt Liz's place. Those memories are now even more precious to me. Shirley's vibrant personality and warm heart always made her the center of attention at any gathering. Her ability to bring joy and laughter to those around her was truly remarkable.
Shirley's beautiful soul touched so many lives, and I know her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Please know that my thoughts are with the family as you navigate through this loss. I hope you can find some comfort in the countless happy memories Shirley leaves behind and in the knowledge that she made such a positive impact on so many lives.

My mom Shirley was one of the most caring, fun, loving, giving and special people you could ever meet. She was always up for adventure and a good time! Growing up in our home it was always filled with lots of company and good times, especially during the holidays. Andy Williams Christmas music started at Thanksgiving and played every day throughout the Christmas season. Baking tons of cookies and hosting multiple parties was a must, and we all loved every minute of it! To say the least our home was full of love and many fun and happy memories. Everyone who met my mom loved her, her infectious laugh and big heart made her so easy to love and adore. She treasured and loved her grandchildren more than anything. My heart is aching, but knowing she is with my dad and all of her loved ones gives me a sense of peace. I love you Mom with all my heart. Not too long ago my mom told me that when she dies that she will always watch over me, I'm looking forward to feeling her love, presence, and guidance.
My love to you forever, your daughter Jacquelyn

Gramma Shirley,
Words fail to describe how much I miss you. I would give anything to give you one last hug and kiss goodbye.
You were the life of every party. You had so many zingers, one-liners, and the loudest most infectious laughter in the room. Your favorite holiday was Christmas and I will fondly remember you sitting in the chair by the window with Daisy or Lotus next to you, scotch and soda in hand. This Christmas will be so tough for me, but I know you will be there in spirit. I am going to miss opening your cards with the heartfelt messages and smiley face drawings.
I will forever remember our shopping and sleepover weekends at your condo on Ina Drive. Those were some of the most cherished memories of my childhood. Going out to lunch and shopping, playing Barbies and card games, coloring, and eating waffles with too much butter and Special K with too much sugar. You always liked everything so sweet. :)
I would like to raise a glass to you, Gramma Shirley. To the best woman I know with the kindest soul. To the sassiest woman I know with the quickest quips. You were truly one-of-a-kind and, as you would famously say, “I had a nice time at your party!”
I love you endlessly and cannot wait to see you again.
Yours forever,
Erica Rae
xoxo

So sorry for your loss. As a child I saw Aunt Shirley so often. She was so funny and had all these sayings that were hilarious……..”go out in the traffic and play”…….still wondering if she was serious!!! She was definitely the fun aunt!

Aunt Shirley was always a party of my life, she watched be as a child created mischief from across the street. As my godmother, she was always there. Or if my daughters friends loved her zeal for social events and said she was 'SPICY,' this description fit her perfectly.
I loved her and will always miss her.
