When my family moved to Hemlock in 1965. We became neighbors of his family. Dick always made me laugh whenever I saw him. I grew up with the whole family. Loved them all and I still live in the old neighborhood of Mapleview Court and have alot of fond memories of the Koboldt family. Sorry for your loss Diane, Sally and Barb.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Dick. He helped save my son’s life. My son was in an accident in 2008 at the Evergreen bar intersection swan creek and Fordney. Dick was having coffee in the bar and heard the accident and stopped some people from trying to get my son out of the car. He made them wait until the fire rescue team got there to put the neck brace on. If they would have moved my son before it might have paralyzed or killed him because he had a broken neck. Thanks to Dicks fast thinking my son is alive and well. God bless him and his family.

Thanks for sharing, Frank. I wasn't aware of all the details, but so grateful that your son is alive and doing well. I remember hearing of a lot of accidents at that corner though. In fact, when I was around 17 or 18, I remember hitting a patch of black ice and doing a 360 through that intersection.

Sending you all a hug, and know I am thinking of you. Dick always made us laugh and I loved his stories of growing up with my Uncle Larry and Uncle Kenny Kleppert and of course harassing my mom Janie. Take care Diane and hope you are doing well Geoff. Love and hugs and my sincere sympathies.

The long journey home to Hemlock from the warm winter months in Tucson always included a stop in St Charles, Missouri to visit me for a few days. Here is a photo of Dick and Diane and their Silverado pickup truck at my house just before they began the final leg of their drive home to Michigan. - April 2016

Before I moved to the St Louis, Missouri area, I was a neighbor of Dick and Diane in Hemlock, Michigan. We were great friends for many years while we were neighbors. Our sons grew up together. Dick kept a beautiful yard and I could hear his music playing all the way from his yard to mine while he worked outdoors! Even though I moved 500+ miles away to be closer to my family, Dick and Diane would always stop to visit with me for a few days as they drove from Hemlock to Tucson...and again as they were driving home on their return trip. In this photo, Dick and Diane were inside the St Louis Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company during a tour. This Budweiser cart was pulled by the famous Clydesdale horses in many parades. At the end of our tour, we got to sample a cold one of our choice! Always a good time with Dick and Diane....so many years of friendship that continued regardless of the miles of separation!
God bless the family of Dick Koboldt and may there be peace and comfort in the many stories and photos of all the fun, laughter and love along his journey of life! Love to you all!!

Over the years we were lucky to know Richard. I wish we could’ve known him for a longer period as you learn about his past it makes him that much more impressive.
Starting out as a young man he answered the call of his nation when he was drafted in to military service. This made him a great American. Once this concluded he settled in to a lifetime career at GM. This made him successful in his chosen profession. While being at GM he achieved his greatest, success as a husband and father. He will be missed.

Koboldt Family: Sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Worked with Richard at Delphi, we had a lot of fun together. One thing he did though was a bought a set of pots and pans at the Evergreen bar and left them in his car when he took me home to the trailer park and he would never give them back to me because he used them when he would go camping. It was always a funny story we shared. He was a great guy and will surely be missed. May God bless you all. Henry Prueter.
