Obituary of Sadie Rana York

Sadie Rana York, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2024 at her home in Saginaw, Michigan, surrounded by love. Sadie was born August 9,1970 to the late Clarence and Odessa Barnes in Saginaw, Michigan.

Sadie is a graduate of Saginaw High School, class of 1988. She had a love for people and worked as direct care staff for many years until her health declined. Sadie loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sadie also loved to shop.

Sadie touched the lives of so many people, and had a heart of gold. Sadie was pure and genuine, and would give her last to help anyone in need.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her one and only daughter, O’dessha (Demetrice) York; two grandchildren, Zola Liddell and Ezra York, all of Saginaw Michigan; nine sisters, Sandra York, Shirley Williams (Christopher), Sheila (Artillis Sr.) Abraham, Sabrina Barnes, Sha’Tanya York, Angela Barnes, Barbara Barnes, Jeneva Barnes, and Denise Barnes; four brothers, Clarence Barnes Jr. (Detriana) Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Charles Barnes, and Cyres York, all of Saginaw, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Sr. & Odessa Barnes; grandparents, Precious York, Robert York Sr., and James and Christine Barnes; uncles, Robert York Jr. and Alex York; aunts, Marice York and Shirley Louis; nephews, Alan Shane York-Hutson Jr. and Deshawn Barnes; niece, Johnice Clark; and the love of her life, Samuel Crawford. 

A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at 1 pm, July 16, 2024, at the Apostolic Life Church, 3360 E. Midland Rd. Bay City MI 48706
