Obituary of Robert Lawrence Karp
Our brother, uncle, and friend, Robert Lawrence Karp fought a long and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. On June 17, 2024 he joined his parents, Darwin Hugo Karp and Maria Guadalupe (Aguilera) Karp, in heaven, where we know he was greeted with his mother’s famous tamales and rice. He was born on March 23, 1969 in Saginaw, Michigan, and was the jokester in the family. He was an avid fan of both the Detroit Lions and the Tigers. He also loved his Mexican music, time with his family, and especially his visits from his brother Mike and his wife from Holland. At the top of his list of things he enjoyed, was beating his brother Dan at games…when the 3 of them would gather, sports were always on TV.
Robert is survived by his brothers, Dan (Christine) Karp, Micheal (Lisa) Karp, and Darwin (Rachel) Sanada; and sister, Sue (Rupert) Chun. Robert had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews and enjoyed life as a great uncle. Justin, Joshua, Ashley Karp, Katelyn MacArthur, Brian (Andrea), Shannon, Amy, Shenendojah, Ty, Seneca, Cody, Sego, Doneho Sanada, Christina (Alex) Utoafili, and Christopher (Paige) Chun, along with all of their children. He didn’t get to travel to meet some of his great-nieces and nephews, however, in Saginaw, he loved his time with Takarah Burrell, and Vanessa and Zayden Karp. He was predeceased by his parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone who has surrounded them during this time with their love and lending hands, Dr. Champagne from Covenant ECC, Naomi RN from Covenant Harrison 3 Main, Emily and Kristen RN from American Hospice, all the staff at Brian’s House, Stephanie Brown, his childhood best friend, Eric Strobe, and all of Robert’s friends at Center Ridge Apartments.
