Obituary of John Richard LaFleur
Loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle walked into the arms of Jesus on June 13, 2024, at the age of 73, after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Orius and Esther (Beutow) LaFleur, born on January 5, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a devoted Christian of great faith, and a proud member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. John spent most of his career working as the warehouse manager for Remer Plumbing and Heating Inc. of Saginaw, Michigan.
John was a sports fanatic and die-hard U of M and Detroit Lions fan. He was an avid gardener who appreciated the farm-to-table movement and an amateur chef who loved experimenting with new recipes with his girls. He loved spending time up north- especially in Traverse City, Michigan, and camping with his girls as they shared drinks and told stories around the campfire. John had a very infectious laugh and was forever the optimist with rarely a bad word to say about anyone or anything. He was kind, compassionate, and fun-loving. A devoted family man, his greatest loves in life were his four children that he single-handedly raised. To his children, he was not only their Daddy, but a super hero, and will forever be remembered as the infamous "Bologna Man."
Left to carry on John's legacy and to cherish his memory are his four children, Sara (Shawn) Leachman, Lisa (Tom) LaFleur-Latosynski, Adam (Tedde) LaFleur, and Gena (Cole Lee) LaFleur; twelve grandchildren; sisters, Karen Richards and Janis (Bob) Kilgore; adopted bonus children, Aaron Hernandez and Samantha and Nicol White; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded to Heaven by his parents; brothers, Dale and Dr. James R. LaFleur; and one adopted bonus son, Aundre "Boo" Hernandez.
