John “Pa” Junemann passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. John was born in Saginaw, Michigan, September 19, 1939, to his late loving parents, Paul and Ottilia (Fettig) Junemann. John graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1958 where he was class treasurer. John went on to work as a sheet metal worker for Gillis Locker, and to work for Progressive Locker Installers, retiring in 1997. John was a member of the Sheet Metal Union Local #7. John was also a long-time member of Saint Matthew Parish in Zilwaukee, Michigan before it closed.
Although John enjoyed all sports and all Michigan teams, he enjoyed his yard, his home, going to the casino, going on bus trips, and going to restaurants, what he enjoyed most of all, was spending time with his family and friends.
On July 15, 1962, John married the love of his life, Mary Jane Head at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Carrollton, Michigan and she survives him. John was a devoted father to his two daughters, Dawn Junemann and Diane and Larry Verbowski; was the dear grandfather, to John Verbowski, Sara and Gregory Kociba, and Jason and Haleigh Verbowski. Grandson John affectionately named him "Pa" and since then everyone called him "Pa". John is the GREAT- grandfather to Olivia Verbowski, Tyler Kociba and Valarie Verbowski. John is also survived by his dear siblings, Betty McGrandy, Ann and Frank Borsenik, Carolyn Dilts and JoAnn and John Krause; and his loving in-laws, Ann Junemann and Dolores and Chuck Edwards. John was predeceased by his big brother, Paul Junemann; his brothers-in-law, Mac McGrandy and Ron Dilts; and his loving in-laws, Maurice "Tubby" and Ann Head.
Honoring John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. John’s good friend, Rev. Father Matthew Federico will officiate. Family and friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
