Kelly passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the age of 61 years. He was surrounded by his loved ones at Brian’s House (hospice home) in Essexville, Michigan. Kelly was born October 3, 1962, in Saginaw, Michigan, and is the son of the late Robert and Rita Daly. Kelly grew up with his eleven other siblings in Saginaw and graduated from Arthur Hill High School. He started working at the age of 17 and met many people along the way. Kelly was a hard worker and developed many skills while working as a baker and manager for Meijer, working on houses with his brother, Dan, and repairing machinery for Absolute Building Maintenance. Kelly applied his skills inside and outside of work as he also had many hobbies. He enjoyed tackling remodeling projects, painting floral and landscape paintings, attending concerts with his partner, researching politics, and growing various kinds of houseplants. Kelly was with his partner, Nick, for 18 years and they created a wonderful life together. They shared a love for music, thrifting, traveling to Florida, and finding new places to eat at. Kelly was an active and dedicated father who enjoyed traveling and trying new things with his daughter, Mollie. They were always able to find something fun to do including rollerblading, playing tennis, painting, baking, fishing, bowling, going to the movies, and doing puzzles together.
He is survived by his partner, Nicholas Ledesma; daughter and son-in-law, Mollie (Keegan) Reimus; five brothers and six sisters and their spouses, Kathleen Ekrut, Theresa (Brian) Somes, Dan (Jane) Daly, Patrick (Patricia) Daly, Michael (Mary) Daly, Peggy (Dale) Walsh, Larry (Cathy) Daly, Deloris McKenzie, Marla (Troy) Hawley, Dr. Darlene Daly, and Edward (Heidi) Daly. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Fred Boettcher, William Ekrut, and Murray McKenzie.
A Memorial Service will be held on February 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 545 7th St, Freeland, MI 48623, with Pastor Kevin O’Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends and family immediately after the service for desserts and coffee.
