Obituary of Joyce Viola Wegner

Joyce V. Wegner, 85 years of age, passed away on December 15, 2023, surrounded by her family in the comfort of the Toni and Trish house of Auburn.   Born in 1938 to the late Henry and Dorothy (Kessler) Wegner in Midland, MI, she is survived by sisters Ruth Ann Techentien, Mary Lou (Harold) Haag and brother Larry (Suzanne) Wegner, along with nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased in death by her brother, Eugene Wegner.

Joyce had a successful 30-year career as a charting secretary for the Midland Hospital. In her younger days, she was a skilled typist, roller-skater, and avid Polka listener. Joyce loved to dance and bring her nieces and nephews along for the fun. Up until her final moments, her most notable hobby was sharing joy and laughter with others. Known around Midland as “The Joke Lady,” Joyce carried copies of jokes with her everywhere she went, ready to share with anyone that could use a smile.  

Joyce was a life-long member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church. She spent much of her time with friends, rejoicing in their faith. Joyce was a beloved family member, devoting her time, care, and fun-loving heart to her nieces and nephews throughout their lives.  Joyce will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
