Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Webb, Virginia A.

Saginaw, Michigan

Virginia, a dear wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 28, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born on August 5, 1933 to the late Peter and Audrey (Rockwell) Ostermann, in Saginaw, Michigan.

She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in1951, and enjoyed working both retail and accounting.  Virginia became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at her baptism in May of 1952. She went into full time ministry, assisting others to gain accurate knowledge of the Bible.

In July of 1953, she married her beloved Harold Webb, and together they generously and lovingly helped many in the community, spiritually as well as materially. Virginia and her husband attended many yearly international bible conventions, with the first memorable one being in 1953 at New York Yankee stadium.  She was faithfully by her husband’s side as they visited, encouraged, and aided the sick and elderly, in hospitals or in their homes.  They loved camping many times a year, traditionally taking 2 weeks in July every year to go to Young State Park.

Virginia loved gardening, and was especially talented with roses; she loved having her grandchildren over and taking them on shopping sprees; and was very good at checkers, and taught her grandson how to play, and always let him win. She was also known for her delicious cakes and cookies. She was an excellent seamstress as well, making not only her own wedding dress, but many special dresses for herself and her daughter.

Virginia is survived by Harold, her loving and devoted husband of 70 years; daughter, Deborah (David) Clayton; three grandchildren, Sarah De La Garza, Candace (Jeffrey) Opelewski, and Zachary (Brooklyn) Clayton; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Chadwick and Mary Federico; one brother, Donald (Margaret) Ostermann; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ostermann and Esther Ostermann.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter Ostermann and Paul Osterman; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Federico.

Although she had several health issues and challenges, she faithfully endured, and kept her spirituality and generous and loving spirit. She patiently cared for her dear husband as he had memory challenges, these last few years.

Revelation 21:4-5, Virginia’s favorite scripture, is not only something she believed in and held in her heart, but  shared with others for over 70 years, “ And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” He also says: “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”  Virginia believed and was faithful in telling others.
