Robert passed away on August 31, 2023 at the age of 85 He was born on February 27, 1938 to Rea and Ruth Bachelder in West Branch, Michigan. He married JoAnn Langley on October 13, 1961, who was also from West Branch.  He worked at Bay City Chevrolet as a Supervisor and was well respected by those with whom he worked, and this was mutual. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was in the Signal Corps as a lineman. He was Awarded Expert Carbine. He was a consummate athlete and excelled in several sports including All State in Football. He also was a scratch golfer.

He was a loved father and husband who enjoyed going for rides in the countryside. He truly enjoyed seeing the different landscapes as well as the different animals he encountered along the way. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a Craftsman who was known for his bamboo ice fishing rods.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; sister, Jeanne Ann Rumbold; son, Joseph (Elizabeth); daughter, Karen (Dave); two grandchildren, Elle and Brooke; along with several nieces and nephews.

Robert did not want a funeral service, however, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Bay City State Park.
