Obituary of Thomas Leroy Zinn

Thomas L. Zinn, age 76, of Alma, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2023 at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital in Mt. Pleasant with his children by his side. He was born on September 26, 1946 to the late Donald Roy Zinn and Marguerite Fleury in Mt. Pleasant.
Tom graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1965. He retired from Dow Chemical after 33 years of service. He became a hired hand on multiple farms in Gratiot County, which included Bebow Farms. He married Sherri Fall on May 27, 1982 in Alma. He enjoyed woodworking, building projects, and gardening.
Tom had an unconditional love for his family. He always put his wife and children first, before himself. He devoted his time to helping others. He was always the first person to lend a helping hand, no matter the project, job, or task. He never expected anything in return. He had a love for animals and had taken many in throughout the years.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Tamara (Zinn) and Chad Smith of Winn; sons, Donald and Lisa Zinn, of Harrison, Scot t Zinn of Alma, and Brian and Jody Zinn of Vestaburg; grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, Samantha, Brianna, and Kelsie; sisters, Patricia (Zinn) and Paul Bunch of Oregon and Nancy (Zinn) and Ron Shaver of Kalamazoo; sister-in-law, Wendy (Case) Zinn of Waterford; and half-brother, Ted Vlad of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Zinn, Marguerite Fleury, step mother Donna (Rippie) Zinn, his wife of 40 years, Sherri, who he called “mum”; and a brother, Marshal Zinn.
