Obituary of Mary Jane Boone

Mary passed away May 16, 2023, at the age of 87. She was born in Flint, on July 13, 1935, to the late Marlon Butler and Elsie Shuda. 

Mary was a mother who always worked hard to support her children. She was a longtime employee of Walli’s in Flint.  After she retired and her kids were grown, she often helped babysit her grandchildren. Laughter was always present at family gatherings, because Mary had a quick wit and perfect one-liners.  Her charm and great sense of humor had everyone from cashiers to nurses cracking up wherever she went.  At the end of the day, she loved to relax with a good movie and an ice-cold tallboy.  She always played by her own rules, which once included dancing on a table in a museum. Similar stories will be remembered and recounted by her loved ones for years to come. The thing Mary valued most was seeing her family happy, safe, and loved. 

She is survived by her children, Rick (Jill) Kennedy, Marty (Gwen) Kennedy, Shawn Schoeny-Kennedy, and Steve (Pam) Kennedy; her grandchildren, Rick (Brandy), Ashley (Calem), Jordan, Carrie (Kyle), Annette, Melanie, Cody (Hannah), Melissa (Ned), Danielle, Courtney, and Ashley (Steve); 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her sister, Alice Butler; her brother, Pat Butler; and her granddaughter, Heather Fuentez. 

A Memorial Service for immediate family only will be held on July 13 at 12:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, 11163 Clio Rd. Clio, Michigan.
