Ronald Schoenherr, age 91, rejoined his beloved wife Anita (Jacobson) of 64 years in time for Valentine’s Day, February 13, 2023. Ron was born May 27,1931 He was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth (Wolf), Gerald Schoenherr, and his daughter, Ronita Snyder.
Ron was a decorated Korean War Veteran, and a proud member of the Operating Engineers Union Local #324, spending much of his career in tunnel construction where he helped innovate the use of lasers on mining machines for accurate tunneling. Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish, Sanford, MI. A man of few hobbies, he worked to better the lives of his family and friends of which he counted many. Later in life Ron developed a passion and talent for Lawn Bowling which he pursued during many snowbird seasons at El Mirage RV Resort in Arizona. Ron and Anita always displayed a passion for life, family, and friends. Easy to find, just listen for the laughter. He will be missed.
He is survived by three of his nine siblings, Elizabeth (Harold) Gallup, Gerald (Carol) Schoenherr and Daniel (Margaret) Schoenherr; his sons, William (Christine), Gregory, and Joseph (Candice); eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Per Ronald’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Fr. Daniel Fox will officiate at a graveside service, at 1:00 PM, July 23, 2023, at Lee Township Cemetery, 724 Nine Mile Rd., Midland MI. A Celebration of Life followed by a luncheon will follow the graveside service at Lee Township Hall, 1485 W. Olson Rd. at 9 Mile Rd., Midland MI.
