Jerry “Butch” Eastman, age 80, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2022. Butch was born on June 6, 1942 in Breckenridge, Michigan to Frank and Hazel Eastman. He was a man of many trades but finished his career as a pipe fitter for Three Rivers Construction inside of Dow Chemical. On June 8, 1963 he married the love of his life, Gerneth Kennedy. They welcomed two beautiful daughters, Kim and April. They blessed him with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Butch was an avid hunter, fisherman, woodworker, and took joy in raising his outside birds. Butch was the happiest when he was outside in nature, enjoying God’s beauty. Butch was a member of the Floyd Church of God, which was started by his Grandma Eastman.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gert Eastman; brother, Bob (Dorothy) Eastman; sister-in-law, Emma Huggins; loving children, Kim (Larry) Nichols and April (Matt) Eastman; grandchildren, Trevor (Lakeen) McHenry, James (Clarissa) Nichols, Nicole (Nick) McHenry, and Chris Gilbert; five amazing great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hazel Eastman; brothers, Lyle, Wayne, Glen, Fred, and Bill; and sister, Shirley (Eastman) Moore.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM, December 28, 2022, at the Floyd Church of God, 1015 W. Chippewa Road, Midland Michigan. The family will receive friends at church prior to the service from 10:00 AM – 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Memorial Contributions to the Floyd Church of God Building Fund or to the Wishes of the Family. The family wishes to thank Stratford Pines Rehab, My Michigan Medical Center, especially the nurses and staff on 4300 and 5600 floors, for all their kindness and support through the last several months.
