William MacNicol, Jr.

Obituary of William Neil MacNicol, Jr.

MacNicol, William N. “Bill” Jr., age 78 of Caro, died June 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving family after a hard fight with cancer. He was born to William MacNicol, Sr. and Frances (Bambard) MacNicol in Bay City Michigan on July 14. 1943. He graduated in 1962 from T.L. Handy high school. He married his "high school sweetheart", Shellie Schulz in Bay City on July 25th, 1964. They would have celebrated 58 years of marriage in July. To be a Michigan State Trooper was his goal at a young age. He did just that and graduated as a MST in 1968. He was known by many as "Mini Mac." He was a kind, fun loving man who would help anyone who needed it. He was an active member of the FOP, Life Leadership, and was very instrumental in creating a wonderful "Fallen Police Officer Memorial" here in Caro. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Shellie; 3 children, Sarah of Alabama, Joshua of Caro, and Jarrod and wife, Sharon of Alpena; four grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, and Ian & Ivy; sister, Kathy Hunter; sister-in-law, Barbara Schulz; brother-in-law, Jeff Schulz; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by siblings, Ann, Frances, Janet, Robert and Neil. We would like to thank Hills & Dales Hospital in Cass City and Promedica Hospice for their wonderful, loving care for Bill and us. Keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in his name may be made to the F.O.P. Lodge 148, P.O. Box 148, Caro, MI 48723.
