Obituary of Goldie June Wood

Goldie June Wood 7/29/1948 – 3/27/2022 Goldie June Wood, age 73, passed away Sunday afternoon, after a long battle with Cancer. Goldie was born and raised in Bay City, Michigan by her Grandmother and her Aunt Mary who are both deceased before her. She graduated from St. James High School in 1966. Goldie is a true testament to the faith as she was a believer in Jesus Christ and stayed faithful throughout all of her life. Goldie loved caring for her outdoor birds, gardening, fishing, boating, camping, crafts, and puzzles and especially loved family time with outdoor type activities. Goldie had her Master’s Degree from CMU in Psychology. She worked over 30 years as an adolescence prevention specialist for McClaren (previously Bay Medical Center). She retired from McClaren and furthered her work in Clare County working in the 1016 drug prevention network. The amount of lives that Goldie has influenced over the years is countless. Her passion was preventing teens and adults from addiction and her career proved as such. She would have presentations at the Bay City Schools and meet with at risk teens in small groups to try and prevent addiction as they became adults. Goldie is preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, her beloved son Frederick Wood, Jr., her cousin Debbie Wells, her Aunt Mary Wilkinson, her Uncle Larry Kennedy, and her Uncle Johnny Dombrowski. Goldie is survived by her husband Frederick Wood, Sr., her daughter Dawn and (Gilbert) Perez. Moreover, she has many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she cherished dearly and loved spending time with. On her daughters side she has a granddaughter Vanessa and (Zachary) Benkert, their children Emmaline, Josiah, Eliana, and Hezekiah (Zeke); and two grandson’s Nicolas & (Zoila) Perez and their children Nico and Zane and Marcos & (Taylor) Perez and their daughter Sage. On her son’s side she has, Nicole and (Joshua) Sheldon and their children Cooper and Lexie, Curtis and (Ashley) Kee and their children Ziva, Ezra, and Maisie, Frederick Kenneth & (Nichole) Wood and Joshowa Wood, and Jewelia & (Alley) Wood. In addition, she is survived by her Aunt Geri Kennedy and her cousin’s Beth, Pam, Elaine Spiker and Cheryl Ratynski, and many, many dear friends, and family on her husband’s side that cared for her. A service for family and friends will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6100 Westside Saginaw Road, Bay City, MI 48706, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday April 4, 2022. Following the service we will meet at Floral Gardens Cemetery at 2215 Cass Avenue Road, Bay City, MI 48708 to place her in the Wall of Remembrance at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022.
